This region of North Wales is home to some real golfing gems – Conwy, Nefyn and District, Royal St David’s at Harlech, Aberdovey are all must play courses if you are touring the area.

Lesser known courses and still offering a quality golf experience are the classic links courses at North Wales, Maesdu (both in Llandundo), Prestatyn and Bull Bay on the Isle of Anglesey.

Wrexham Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the premier clubs in the country, regularly playing host to many national and international golfing events. A delightful course offering an attractive challenge amid a backdrop of typical, rolling Welsh scenery.

     Vale of Llangollen Golf Club            6422 Yards   |   Par 72               

Vale of Llangollen is set in the beautiful Llangollen Valley with scenic views on virtually every hole.

The Vale of Llangollen is regarded as one of the top courses to play in North Wales.  The championship course features manicured fairways and superb greens, nestled on the banks of the River Dee and is surrounded by the glorious ‘GREEN’ Welsh hills.

Mold Golf Club                       5556 Yards   |   Par 68

The 18 hole uplands course lies in the shadow of Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range offering unrivalled views of the stunning Welsh countryside. At the highest part of the course, you are 850 feet above sea level and the panorama opens out.

Prestatyn Golf Club                 6246 Yards   |   Par 72     

Founded in 1905, Prestatyn is a true links experience! Set out on a 150-acre tract of land known as “morfa,” meaning bog or sea-marsh in the Welsh tongue, the course lies between the coastal rail line and the Irish Sea.

Abergele Golf Club                   6058 Yards   |   Par 72  

Abergele Golf Club is set in the parkland of Gwrych Castle and boasts of its picturesque setting. The 8th hole is a par 5 and at 580 yards, the club boasts one of the longest holes in Wales. But their signature hole is the 18th, which will see you complete your round in front of a welcoming crowd on the balcony of the Clubhouse.

Rhos on Sea Golf Club                5463 Yards   |   Par 68      

On the seafront of Penrhyn Bay, adjacent to the resort town of Llandudno. The course is mostly flat parkland course, surrounded by stunning views of the North Wales mountains and coast. It features fairly wide fairways, raised tees and fast and true greens, several of which are Mackenzie Style two-tiered.

Maesdu Golf Club (Llandudno)        6448 Yards   |   Par 72             

An 18-hole Championship Course featuring gently undulating holes that combine both parkland and links golf. It enjoys captivating panoramic views of the curving Conwy Bay – from The Great Orme Head to the dramatic mountains of the Snowdonia National Park.

North Wales Golf Club (Llandudno)     5905 Yards   |   Par 71               

North Wales Golf Club is a true Championship links course with views over the estuary and the ocean towards the Isle of Anglesey and the Snowdonia Mountain range. The signature holes are both par 3’s called OL an LO.

Conwy Golf Club                     6476 Yards   |   Par 72

Conwy Golf Club is the premier links course of the region and a qualifying course for the British Open! The course lies at the mouth of the River Conwy, overlooked on its south side by Conwy Mountain and on its north side, overlooking the Conwy Estuary and the Great Orme. It is flat in its terrain with plenty of gorse lining the closing holes.

Bull Bay Golf Club                  5898 Yards   |   Par 70      

The premier golfing experience on the Isle of Angelsey, few places can rival the spectacular setting of this established, 18 hole, championship course. Laid out above the rugged coastline on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, every tee commands panoramic views over the island to the mountains of Snowdonia, or over the Irish Sea.

Holyhead Golf Club               5692 Yards   |   Par 68       

Located on the stunningly beautiful Isle of Anglesey. The course is a challenging heathland 18 hole championship course. There are no trees on the course but don’t let that fool you. The fairways are quite narrow and most are bordered by dense gorse, so any wayward shots could wreck a promising score.

Porthmadog Golf Club                 6012 Yards   |   Par 71         

One of the quieter and lesser known course on the spectacular coastline of North Wales. Designed by James Braid, Porthmadog provides a contrast in playing golf, with the front nine predominantly heathland and the back nine a true links experience, with stunning views of the Cardigan Bay coastline and Snowdonia mountains.

Nefyn & District Golf Club               5672 Yards   |   Par 68        

Perfectly situated on the spectacular northern coastline of the Llŷn Peninsula, the 27 hole layout consists of an 18 hole Championship Course. In addition, you can also choose to play the world famous ‘Point’ which offers 9 holes of breathtaking golf along the thin stretch of land that encroaches out into the Irish Sea.

Royal St David’s Golf Club             6225 Yards   |   Par 69        

Royal St David’s at Harlech is rated amongst the top golf courses in Great Britain. The setting is matchless with a grand golfing challenge of one of the finest traditional links courses in the world. The course sits below Harlech Castle and behind the enormous sand dunes which border the ocean. The undulating fairways and fast true greens are all that would be expected of a quality championship links course.

Aberdovey Golf Club             5672 Yards   |   Par 68      

Aberdovey Golf Club is enchantingly set at the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park on the mouth of the river Dovey Estuary. The links course is wedged between the Cambrian Mountain range and the ocean. Despite its old age, Aberdovey is not a short course and it was here that Ian Woosnam would come to practise on firm, fast greens prior to playing in the U.S. Masters each April.

Llanymynech Golf Club                5873 Yards   |   Par 70       

The original golfing home of Ian Woosnam. It’s a one-of-a-kind golf club with some fine golf and far-reaching panoramas. Uniquely, you can play your golf in two separate countries within the one round! The cross border golfing sees you teeing off on the 4th in Wales and putting out in England! The 5th and 6th holes are both in England and then you are cordially welcomed back into Wales on the 7th tee!
